China travel plan · East China

China travel plan: Along the Yangtze (11 days)

Eastern China in eleven days, travelling by bullet train: Shanghai, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Nanjing and Wuhan. After the Bund and the Lujiazui skyscrapers you slow down by Hangzhou's West Lake and in the Longjing tea village, drop in on China's “Paris” in Tianducheng, see the Lingshan Giant Buddha by Lake Tai and Nanjing's city walls, and finish at the Yellow Crane Tower above the Yangtze in Wuhan. A good route for a second trip to China, or for anyone who prefers less obvious cities than Beijing and Xi'an. What surprised us most was the technology: the Maglev from the airport, paying by phone everywhere and bullet trains linking every city on this route.

  • 11 daystrip length
  • 7 placeson the route
  • Shanghaistart
  • Departure from WuhanTianhe Airport (WUH)
  • Best time to go March–May, September–November
