China travel plan: Sichuan Deluxe (14 days)

Our longest plan, and the best choice if nature is what draws you to China. In two weeks you travel from the pandas and teahouses of Chengdu, past the Leshan Giant Buddha, sacred Mount Emei and the turquoise lakes of Jiuzhaigou, all the way to the stone pillars of Zhangjiajie that inspired the makers of “Avatar”. You fly into Chengdu and out of Chongqing, so no day is lost backtracking. Expect plenty of stairs and mountain trails; in return you get views you won't see anywhere else. What surprised us most in China was how clean it is – even in national parks that see crowds of visitors every day.

  • 14 daystrip length
  • 12 placeson the route

  • Departure from ChongqingJiangbei Airport (CKG)
  • Best time to go March–June, September–November
