China travel plan: Dim Sum & Palm Trees (11 days)

Eleven days in southern China: four very different cities of the Pearl River Delta, then the tropical beaches of Sanya on Hainan to finish. Dim sum in the home of Cantonese cooking, Shenzhen's skyscrapers and electronics market, Victoria Peak, the Star Ferry and the Big Buddha on Lantau in Hong Kong, and Macau's Portuguese old town and egg tarts. Along the way you cross the Hong Kong and Macau borders, explained step by step in the plan. The best time to go is October to April, when there's no heat or typhoons. What surprised us most in China was its diversity, and here you see it in eleven days: three currencies, Cantonese, Portuguese and Hainanese food, skyscrapers and tropical beaches.
