China travel plan: The Road to Shangri-La (10 days)

Yunnan in ten days – the most culturally diverse route we offer. You start in Kunming, the “city of eternal spring”, travel to Dali on Erhai Lake, the Naxi old town of Lijiang and all the way to Tibetan Shangri-La with Songzanlin Monastery. China's cultural and culinary diversity surprised us most – and it's at its most visible in Yunnan, home to 25 of the country's 55 officially recognised ethnic minorities. This is a high-altitude trip: the glacier on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain sits at around 4,500 m and Shangri-La at over 3,000 m, so a warm jacket comes in handy even in summer.
